EARTH DAY IS COMING AND WE NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION! As you hopefully are already aware, we will be celebrating Earth day on Tuesday, April 22nd At NAU-Yavapai in a big way this year. This is a community event where we will not only be highlighting our Community Development and Sustainability program, but encouraging student and community involvement. Activities will take place beginning at 4:30PM with films showing in the Crystal Room throughout the afternoon: · Award winning films series: Chasing Ice, Inequality for All, Growing Cities · Music: CoMMusiKey - Musical Engagement by Aaron Whitlatch · Entertainment: Traditional Native American Rain Dance Performances · Giveaways: Various earth related and sustainable items · Demonstrations: (THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE ? ?SUSTAIN THE EARTH and GET A SHIRT!?) Currently Scheduled: o Energy Saving demonstration and CFL light bulb giveaway § Steve Read will demonstrate the difference of CFL vs. incandescent light bulbs Planned: o Demonstrations of Earth/Sustainability-related activities that students are already involved in! § Can be simple or complex / actual demonstrations or simply sharing activities /processes · Examples include: composting / solar cooking / natural soap making? be creative! We look forward to all students participating in the activities surrounding this special day.
